Redmi Turbo 3 Launches In China With Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, Air Gestures, HyperOS, And More

Xiaomi held an event today in China where it unveiled a new Redmi smartphone and tablet. The Redmi Turbo 3 follows the Redmi Note 12 Turbo from last year. The Xiaomi sub-brand has switched to a new moniker under the Turbo series. It is touted to be a flagship killer in the mid-range segment and rightly so going by its specifications. The Redmi Turbo 3 packs significant upgrades over its predecessor i.e. the Note 12 Turbo.

Redmi Turbo 3 specifications and features

The Redmi Turbo 3 retains the same design as its predecessor. It has a flat frame with slightly curved corners and two protruding camera rings. The device measures 7.8mm thick and weighs just 179 grams. Redmi says that the phone is SGS five-star drop protection certified.

In terms of display, the Redmi Turbo 3 boasts a large 6.67-inch OLED screen surrounded by ultra-thin bezels and integrated with a fingerprint scanner. The display offers a 1.5K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 2,400 nits peak brightness.

On the imaging front, the Redmi Turbo 3’s triple rear camera setup comprises a 50MP Sony LYT-600 main sensor with OIS and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens. There is a 20MP front-facing selfie snapper. The smartphone has an AI-based object eraser feature which is similar to Pixel’s Magic Eraser that removes any unwanted elements from the images.

Under the hood, the Redmi Turbo 3 is equipped with a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor which is a toned-down version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. It packs up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. There is a large VC area and Xiaomi’s Ice Cooling system for heat dissipation during intensive and prolonged usage. The smartphone draws its power from a 5,000mAh battery unit with support for 90W fast charging.

The Redmi Turbo 3 runs on HyperOS-based Android 14 OS out of the box. It comes with Air Gestures allowing users to control their devices conveniently from a distance without touching the screen. This is helpful while taking selfies or if your hands are wet. There are also various other AI features on the device like live subtitles, AI summarization, and more. Connectivity options on the smartphone include USB-C port, WiFi-7, Bluetooth, NFC, and more.
