Samsung has quietly launched a brand-new mid-range smartphone in Brazil. It’s the Samsung Galaxy M55. Historically, the M-series has had specs similar to those of their A-series counterparts. That would suggest that the new phone is identical to the recently launched Galaxy A55.
Well, the case is different for the Galaxy M55. The new Samsung phones bring loads of changes. For them, it can’t be considered a different version of the A55. These changes range from the display to charging speed to the chipset. As for the price, the phone is available in BRL 2,999, around $600.

On the front, the Samsung Galaxy M55 comes with a 6.7-inch screen, which is larger than the A55. It’s an AMOLED Plus panel with an FHD+ resolution. The screen also features a 120 Hz refresh rate, 1000 nits of peak brightness, and an optical under-display fingerprint scanner.

As for the cameras, the front of the Samsung Galaxy M55 houses a 50 MP selfie shooter. To compare, the A55 packs a 32 MP front camera. On the back, the M55 has a 50 MP primary sensor with OIS, 2 MP macro, and 8 MP ultrawide. These make the back camera setup pretty versatile.
Under the hood, the Galaxy M55 sports a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset. While it’s not the latest mid-range SoC from Qualcomm, it’s still a good performer. Samsung paired it up with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. There’s a microSD card slot that lets you further expand the storage if needed.
Software-wise, the Samsung Galaxy M55 runs on One UI 6.1, which is based on Android 14. The company guarantees 4 years of major Android updates and five years of security patches. Other highlights of the phone include a 5000 mAh battery that can charge at 45W. That’s faster than the Galaxy A55, and the phone can get 0 to 70% in just 30 minutes.
