Huawei to Unveil Kirin A2 Chip in Third or Fourth Quarter: Latest Rumours

According to an exclusive report from HC, Chinese brand, Huawei, will finally launch its 2nd Gen Kirin A2 chip after four years out. Recall that Huawei released the Kirin A1 chip in Sept. 2019. However, shortly after the launch, the company started facing bans from the U.S. and other nations of the world. This slowed down the company’s work and the Kirin chip had to pause its progress. According to the report from HC, Huawei will unveil the Kirin A2 chip in the third or fourth quarter of this year. At the moment, there is no official confirmation from Huawei. Thus, it is advisable to treat this report as a rumour.

Gizchina News of the week

There have been reports that Huawei is testing the Kirin A2 chip for some time now. It appears that this chip is now ready for trial production and has mass-production capabilities. However, it is possible that a couple of things will change before mass production. Its schedule, specs and other parameters could change. Thus, the rumour does not give any insight into the launch date. But, at least, we know that Huawei will launch the chip soon.

Kirin A2’s predecessor, Kirin A1

The Kirin A1 was released in 2019 and it was first used in Huawei FreeBuds 3 true wireless Bluetooth headset, Huawei Watch GT 2 and other products. Four years later, this chip will now get a successor. The Huawei Kirin A1 chip is the first wearable chip that supports wireless earphones, headbands, neckbands, smart speakers, smart eyewear, and smartwatches. Its power use is very low, thanks to its dual – channel transmission tech. It also adopts the unique BT-UHD ultra-high-definition Bluetooth codec tech, and the limit transmission bandwidth can reach up to 6.5Mbps. This greatly improves the transmission speed, which is 2.8 times the transmission speed of the Bluetooth standard (2.1Mbps). Keep a tab with us while we wait for an official confirmation from Huawei.
