Google Tensor 2 flagship processor to use Samsung 4nm LPE process

’s next-generation flagship processor, Google Tensor 2 will still retain ’s manufacturing process. This new flagship processor will use Samsung’s 4nm LPE process. Recall that both the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 as well as the Exynos 2200 all use this process. However, Qualcomm no longer favors the process as it has now switched to TSMC’s 4nm process for the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC.

In addition, the Tensor 2 processor will use the ARMv9 instruction set. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is the world’s first ARMv9 instruction set chip. ARM officials say this is the most important innovation in the past 10 years. Furthermore, the company also claims that this technology is the foundation of the future 300 billion ARM chips.

Compared with the previous generation ARMv8, the ARMv9 instruction set will no longer be limited to the mobile/embedded market. It will also expand to new markets such as PC, HPC, high-performance computing, and deep learning to meet the global demand for increasingly powerful security, artificial intelligence (AI), and the need for ubiquitous dedicated processing.

In addition, Tensor 2 will also be equipped with super-large cores, which may adopt the “1+3+4” scheme or the “2+2+4” scheme. The previous generation Tensor chip consists of 2 Cortex-X1 super-large cores and 2 Cortex -A76 large cores and 4 A55 small cores. Thus, it is possible for the Google Tensor 2 to come with 2 Cortex X2 super cores.

It is worth noting that the AnTuTu score of ’s first-generation Tensor chip exceeded 700,000 points. This is comparable to that of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 870. The new generation of Tensor 2 is likely to exceed 800,000 points. However, it will still be nowhere near the Snpadrago 8 series chips or the Dimensity 9000 which exceeds 1,000,000 points.

Pixel 7 will debut the Tensor 2 chip

According to reports, the Pixel 7 will use a 6.3-inch screen display while the Pixel 7 will use a 6.7-inch screen. Both smartphones will come with an OLED screen that supports a high refresh rate of 120Hz. In addition, the biggest highlight is that the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are pre-installed with the 13 operating system from the factory. They will therefore be the world’s first Android 13 flagship to get FCC certification.

Under the hood, the Pixel 7 series will come with the second-generation Tensor chip, Tensor 2. This chip is undoubtedly even better and faster than its predecessor. This device could come with up to 12GB of RAM and there will most likely be a choice of 128GB and 256GB storage memory.

Of course, the Pixel 7 Pro will not only use a new processor but will also use new software. Work is now underway on 13. This new operating system will debut in the Pixel 7 series.  No information is available yet about the battery capacity and charging options. The current Pro model comes with a 5,000 mAh battery that provides a long battery life. Charging is quite slow, the device offers support for 23W fast charging.
