Samsung Galaxy S23 system takes up to 60GB space? Here is the truth

According to recent reports from Authority, Ars Technica, Wccftech, and other tech reports, the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra’s system space can take up to 60GB. However, there is a data mistake in this news. The Galaxy S23’s 128GB model occupies 18GB. Second, there will be a 7% “loss” in storage due to the conversion from 1000 to 1024.

’s OneUI 5.1 operating system does not require 60GB of storage, as noted by Notebookcheck. This is primarily due to Samsung’s usage of 1000/1024 base conversion in system storage. This helps to clarify for users why the 512GB model actually only has 472GB, indicating a 7% “loss” in storage.

The image below reveals the space that the storage display in the Galaxy S23 takes. The OneUI 5.1 system takes up roughly 18GB of space on the 128GB model, 32GB of space on the 256GB model, and 58GB of space on the 512GB device. There could be a variance of several GBs depending on the region, the type of mobile phone, and the OS version.

The Dutch version of the 512GB model has a “loss” of about 35.84GB, and the actual space taken is about 22.2 GB. The actual space taken between the two systems is roughly the same, so this should be reasonable.
