The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has been in the spotlight for many months. And rumors regarding the chipset have been very consistent. But still, we have had many contradicting leaks. Some said it would make a significant jump, while others said the early rumors were “too optimistic.”
Well, we don’t need to wait too long to see what the chipset will bring to the table. Yes, Qualcomm has officially announced the launch date of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. And it will happen much earlier than expected. To be exact, the launch has been moved to around one month forward than last year!
Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Is Coming This October
Last year, Qualcomm held the Snapdragon Summit on November 15. That event brought out the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which is the current flagship CPU of Android devices. For this year, Qualcomm did not change the location of the event. But it did change the date!
That is, Qualcomm will unroll the curtains of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 on October 24 in Hawaii. As per the official announcement, the Snapdragon Summit will run from October 24 and will last till October 26. And interestingly, Qualcomm says that the event will let you “catch the next wave of mind-blowing innovation.”
Naturally, that statement hints at the cutting-edge performance of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. As far as we know, Qualcomm has opted for the most advanced node of TSMC to mass-produce this smartphone SoC. However, Qualcomm has confirmed that it will not use the 3nm process. Those wafers are reserved for the next Apple A series silicon.

Instead, Qualcomm will utilize the N4P node of TSMC. With it, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will become the 3rd successive smartphone SoC to be fabricated on that particular node. But just because it’s the same fabrication node as the previous two SoCs, it does not mean the next-gen chipset will not offer an upgrade.
In fact, the N4P node fabrication will make the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 deliver improved performance without sacrificing power efficiency.
What to Expect from the Upcoming Snapdragon Summit
Besides the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, Qualcomm is currently working on custom Oryon cores. However, the upcoming mobile chipset will not come with the Oryon custom cores.
Instead, Qualcomm is planning to debut the Oryon cores with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. That chipset will come out in 2024. Also, Qualcomm has been reported to preview the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 4. As you might know, that particular SoC is designed for notebooks, which makes it far superior to its mobile chipsets.
And the great part is that we might get a showcase of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 4 at the upcoming summit. Other announcements at the summit can include Qualcomm’s latest advancements in the world of AI.
All that We Know About the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3
Let’s quickly summarize the credible rumors surrounding the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Apparently, Qualcomm is currently testing two different versions. One of them sports two Cortex X4 cores, while the other features one. Considering the fact that Qualcomm will prioritize efficiency, the final version will likely come with one Cortex X4 core.
That will eventually make the 8 Gen 3 get a ‘1 + 5 + 2’ configuration. This chipset will also be the first to debut ‘titanium’ cores. Additionally, it’s confirmed that the upcoming Qualcomm SoC will come with Adreno 750 GPU. But aside from the information about the GPU, you should take these rumored specifications with a grain of salt.
